A Pink Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

Who says a Mickey Mouse birthday party has to be red and white? This pink Disney party is all Mickey with pops of pink and gold, perfect for a 2nd (or any!) birthday.

When Maggie was a few months away from being two, we asked her what kind of party she wanted.

Without hesitation, she said “Mickey Mouse,” and stuck to that plan forever more. Then one day she told us it should be pink Mickey Mouse, and I got even more pumped.

This girl’s love for all the Disney pals runs deep, and I was so excited to throw her a pink Mickey Mouse birthday party.

At first I was a little stuck because Mickey usually means the whole red/yellow/black situation, but I love how the pink came together for this 2nd birthday party. All of these pieces were so fun to put together.

A Pink Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

Balloons

When I’m throwing parties, I always try to use what I have first.

We had a bunch of pink, peach, and gold tassels, along with some honeycombs from another project. I had pink and white balloons on hand, so that’s where we started.

The bulk of the decor was pretty much balloon installations, like the one we have a tutorial on right here. These are just on a much smaller scale.

We created balloon bunches on an archway in the house, outside on a play tent, and scattered around here and there.

We also blew up a few with helium to have them floating around for fun.

Table Decor

On the table, we used the honeycombs and some tissue paper fringe and just sprinkled them around on a table runner that was a simple cut piece of fabric.

I found these die-cut pink felt pieces in the shape of the Disneyland castle and placed them around at random as well.

I always decorate our little buffet area, and this got the balloon treatment too.

We included our Lightbox, which I pretty much use at every party, and a photo of Mags from our recent Disneyland trip.

We also brought back some Mickey suckers (cheapest sweets in the park!) from Disneyland to hand out as favors to take home.

I created these oversize photo strips, using photos that I took of Maggie in her mouse ears. We’ll have a full tutorial coming on that soon!

Food for a Mickey Mouse Party

We wanted to have small bites with a brunchy vibe, to make things super simple to serve.

So we made mini puff-pastry quiches (we improvised the recipe but it’s basically like this one), little yogurt parfaits, Mickey-shaped sandwiches (using a Mickey cookie cutter), and fruits & veggies. (My favorite part was the little gold spoons that we stuck in the parfaits!)

We also found Mickey-shaped chips that were a huge hit!

For dessert, Maggie asked for donuts rather than cake, so we did a wall of donuts and a little donut tower for Maggie to blow out her candles. Full tutorial on the donut wall is on right here!

Mickey Mouse Birthday Party Activities

I always like to have a little crafty activity and a more outdoor, play-based activity at a kids’ party. I feel like then there’s something for everyone.

So for the craft activity, we created foam Mickey ears for everyone, and set out a bunch of stickers so that they could decorate their ears.

Not all the kids made ears, but the ones who did were really into it.

Outside, we set out a little a-frame tent, and the big hit of the party: a ball pit. We used a Minnidip pool and a bunch of ball pit balls to create a fun little DIY ball pit for the kids to jump in and out of.

They loved it! The kids and the dads ended up outside, having ball battles and bouncing the big beach balls all over the place.

It was hilarious to watch, and provided lots and lots of play time. The party ended at naptime, and as soon as my kids woke up they wanted to go back out and play in the ball pit some more, so that’s how we spent the afternoon!
