How to Make Geometric Heart Flower Vases

I love turning everything and anything into a flower vase. Sure a standard glass vase works just fine, but when it comes to the holidays, it’s fun to have a cute and unique shaped vase to hold a few flowers. And that is especially true for Valentine’s day. Today I am sharing how to make geometric heart flower vases out of a paper mache heart box. You will be shocked at just how simple it is!

Materials to make your own Geometric Heart Flower Vases:

  • Paper mache heart gift box
  • Acrylic craft paint (choose your favorite colors to paint the heart with your desired pattern)
  • Utility knife
  • Plastic or glass flower vase that is the smaller than the height and depth of the box. For example if the heart box you use is 4.5″ tall and 2″ wide, then you need a cup that is 4″ tall and less than 2″ in diameter.

Begin by paining the box with your desired pattern. I went with an easy geometric pattern by taping off the crossing lines on the heart and painting each section a different shade of pink and coral.

Once the box is painted, use the utility knife to cut out a panel on the side of the heart box that is the same diameter as your glass.

Repeat on the bottom of the heart where it rests on your table when sat upright.

You should now have a hole that goes from the top, through the center of the heart box to the table. Here you can insert your glass vase so that it can sit on your table top and hold your flowers. If you are using faux flowers, you can skip cutting out the bottom portion of the heart box and omit the cup and just insert your faux flowers directly into the box through the hole in the top.

As you can see from the picture, you can’t even see the glass holding the flowers in there, using this technique will allow you to use fresh blooms with your geometric heart flower vases.
