Mother’s Day is just around the corner so I teamed up with the Martha Stewart team and Plaid Crafts to share the cutest and most thoughtful gift idea. As a mother, my favorite gifts over the years are the ones that are truly thoughtful. The ones that mean something, whether it be something handmade, a memory or even an inside joke. Now that being said I don’t always have the time to create these thoughtful gifts… but don’t worry, I got you covered! These DIY stenciled frames are so so simple and take no time at all. Easy and meaningful might be the best combo there is! You can put ANYTHING inside the frame, I mean lets not stick to just pictures….what about a ticket stub from a meaningful concert with your mom, a sweet quote, her favorite pressed flowers or even a family recipe. So lets give crafty and more meaningfully this Mother’s day!

SUPPLIES
-Picture Frames. I bought some really pretty glass ones and they were so simple to stencil.
–Martha Stewart Adhesive Stencils
–Martha Stewart Stencil Brush Set
–Martha Stewart Family Friendly Satin Acrylic White Paint
These stencils are amazing because the stick is SO good! They don’t budge and create a flawless stencil. I also love the designs on the global stencil because there are so many possibilities.
-First cut and stick on the stencil where you want it. If you are going around the entire frame it gets more tricky, but just re-stick the pattern where the other pattern left off. Sometimes its great to overlap because then your continued pattern can be more exact.
-Next take your stencil brush and start to blot on the paint. You don’t want to do too much or there can be some bleeding. Let dry and repeat if you want a darker color.
-Lastly pull off the stencil! And you are done!
-For glass frames I think its best to put a top coat over the paint so it doesn’t chip over time. Mod Podge or something would be perfect.
Let completely dry and then add whatever keep sake you want inside! I added some cute Mother’s day graphic art from Grape Studios.
