Beautiful and Thoughtful Shadow Box Wall Art

I recently watched my sister make this beautiful shadowbox art for me on a Facebook Live video. I was not expecting it to be for me but boy was I delighted when she announced that I could keep it! So yes, I guess I’m that special someone in this case :).

It was right around the time that I moved to a new home close to two hours away. And feeling emotional about the move, I was brought to tears when she read out this phrase “the bloom may be brief but the memory of it’s beauty will last a lifetime”.

Using actual dried zinnia flowers, she creating the perfect natural backdrop inside this rustic shadow box. Even the zinnia flowers were taken from our mom’s garden where we spend the majority of the summer together as a family. We also have this video showing how to preserve fresh flowers using silica crystals if you’re interested in making your own.

How to Make Dried Flower Shadow Box Art

Have a printout of your favorite phrase or saying to fit on the shadowbox glass.

Remove the glass and place it over top of the printout. Using a white sharpie, trace the saying onto the glass window and be sure it’s dry before replacing it inside shadowbox.

Using a marker to trace a saying onto the glass window.

Next, arrange the preserved flowers in the shadow box with the petals facing the glass.

Take the photocopy of the saying and crumple it up and place it on top of preserved flowers to fill the gap between the flowers and the shadowbox backing.

Then, place the wood backer on the shadow box and fasten it together.
