Easy Origami Easter Egg

Origami Easter Egg.
I’ve been having so much fun making Easter crafts the last few weeks. So far I’ve made origami Easter baskets, origami egg cups and a printable Easter basket. These origami paper eggs are the perfect next project and so easy to make.
I’ve seen a lot of complicated looking 3D origami eggs so I’m excited to share an easy, no-fuss version with you. I’m a big fan of simple designs like these as there’s a lot you can do to decorate them once they’re finished. All you need is some squares of paper and a few simple folds.
Easy Origami Egg.
To make one of these flat paper eggs you will need a square piece of paper. For mine, I used three different sizes of paper starting with a 7-inch square, then a 6-inch square and finally a 5-inch square for the smallest egg.
You can use any type of paper that you like but make sure it’s not too thick as you’ll have trouble folding it. I chose some pretty spring-themed origami paper for mine but you could use gift wrap, scrapbook paper or even finished colouring book pages.
Things to do with your Easter Egg Origami’
If you’re hosting an Easter brunch or lunch, these pretty paper eggs would make lovely table decor or a garland when strung up and hung on the wall. Make mini versions, add some decorative touches with stickers and spring-themed stamps and use them to decorate an Easter egg tree.
Here are a few more ideas:
Either leave flat or fold them in half to stand. They can be used as place cards for Sunday dinner or popped on the mantel place for a lovely Spring touch.
Fold small eggs and pop them on a card or Easter basket.
Use pretty spring paper or Easter themed paper and string them up as egg-shaped bunting.
Make them with plain printer paper and get the kids involved in decorating them. Stamps, stickers and stencils are always popular in our house.
Hide them around the house or garden for a non-chocolate Easter egg hunt (personal favourite especially if you’re stuck inside on a rainy day with little ones that need entertaining).

Origami Paper (pastel) or Spring themed paper.
Sadly the paper I used to make these eggs is no longer available. It was part of the Djeco 100 Origami Sheets set.

Origami Easter Egg Instructions:
1. Flip your paper over so the patterned side is facing down.
2. Fold in half along one of the diagonals.
3. Unfold.
4. Fold the top edges down to meet the centre crease.
5. Fold the bottom point up to meet the bottom of the previous folds.
6. Fold the top point down around 2 inches.
7. Fold the side points in to make the sides of the egg.
8. Fold the top side points in to shape the top of the egg.
9. Flip over.
10. Leave as it is and decorate or fold in half to stand and use as a place setting.
And there you have it, your sweet and simple origami eggs are ready to go.
