Get ready to relive that nostalgia because friendship bracelets are back and better than ever – just in time for Valentine’s Day. So grab your scissors, thread, and beads, and let’s get crafting because I have 4 fun Friendship Bracelet Valentine Ideas!
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hobby Lobby. All opinions are 100% mine.
I went to Hobby Lobby to try to find some cute and unique Valentine’s gift ideas and stumbled down the bead aisles. So many cute options and since my girls are currently obsessed with stacked friendship bracelets, I thought it would make the perfect thing to hand out on Valentine’s Day!
If you are a bracelet lover too- then I’ve got 4 fun ideas for a Valentine’s card! I even made some printables that don’t include Valentine’s Day so you could give these as a gift all year round!
Friendship bracelet sizes
Before we break down each friendship bracelet Valentine’s idea – Let’s talk about size! Wrist sizes can vary depending on who you are making bracelets for! My wrist (adult woman) is 6 inches but the average wrist size is around 7. I also don’t want bracelets tight on my wrist. If you are making these for kids- maybe around 5 inches! I would recommend measuring the wrist of someone who is about the age of the person you intend on giving it to!
I love using elastic because the stretch is great for different wrist sizes. As well as braided friendship bracelets. You can tie on the bracelet and then snip off any access strings.
Now let’s get on with the 4 fun Friendship Bracelet Valentine Ideas:
Beaded bracelet kit
This is my favorite one- because it’s a Valentine and Craft all in one! You can put together beads and words and each kid/person can assemble their own bracelet!
Supplies needed to make a beaded bracelet
- Beads –we used a variety- flat beads, alphabet beads, charms, and heart beads
- Elastic string
- Small Jewelry storage bags
- Tape
- Printables (down below)
Everything for this (besides the washi tape) was down the bead aisle at Hobby Lobby. They had storage bags in all different sizes! We also grabbed these cute little containers and the beads fit in them perfectly as well!
How to assemble the Friendship Bracelet Valentine
We laid out the design of the beads to make sure the bracelet would be long enough- AND to make sure the design was cute! We snipped off a piece of elastic with plenty of room to tie off the ends. Make sure to throw in extra beads just in case!
Fill up the baggies with the beads. We strung up the words on the elastic so you could see it through the plastic bag. If you wanted to do names with the alphabet beads, you could string them on the elastic so you could easily see who’s valentine goes to whom.
Once our baggies were filled, we just folded them over the top and taped them to our printable!
For the glass bottles, We attached these with a glue dot on the back to hold them in place.
Morris Code Bracelet
This Morris code Friendship bracelet is such a cute idea! A surprise little message that is created with beads!
Supplies to make Morris Code Bracelet
- Seed beads in round and long shapes
- Elastic
- E6000 adhesive
- Printable down below
- tape (optional)
- Beading needle (optional)
I was on a mission to find the “dash” shape in beads to create the dash shape in the Morris Code. Hobby Lobby had a few different options! I decided to go with the seed beads- there were black ones and white ones, Which worked perfectly for what I wanted to do. I grabbed red beads as well to be the spacers in between the letters.
How to make a Morris Code bracelet
The two printables I made have the Morris Code underneath. There is a BFF and I love you.
But if you wanted to create your own saying or put someone’s name, I found a great chart with the Morris Code images for each letter here at Wikipedia.
Start by snipping off a piece of elastic about 9 inches long. I put a piece of tape on the end so no beads accidentally fall off as I’m stringing it. Add a few spacer beads and then add in the dots and dashes to spell out the phrases. I do put a spacer-colored bead in between each letter of the BFF and a spacer between each letter and 3 spacer beads in between each word.
Once I have the Morris Code on the elastic, I finish it off with the spacer beads to make it long enough. I tie a square knot and then add a dob of E6000 glue to prevent the knot from coming undone.
Now you can just attach it to your printable!
Knotted/Braided friendship bracelets
This is probably the one that will take the most time to finish! Braiding friendship bracelets takes some patience-
Supplies to create braided friendship bracelets
- Embroidery Floss
- scissors
Hobby Lobby has a great variety of colors of embroidery floss. You can buy it by color or grab a whole pack of a variety of colors.
How to braid a friendship bracelet
I have two youtube videos that show you how to braid a variety of friendship bracelets.
The heart ones are a little more labor intensive–but so cute and just perfect for Valentine’s day!
I also have a tutorial on how to make Daisy bracelets if you want to go that route instead!
I just tuck the two sides of the bracelet around the printable and add a piece of washi tape to keep it in place.
Pre-made friendship bracelets Valentine
Hobby Lobby had packs of the cutest friendship bracelets already made (and they were on sale as well!) What makes this one the easiest and quickest Valentine of them all! If you aren’t down for doing homemade bracelets- then this is your answer!
Supplies for Valentines:
- Pack of premade bracelets (found by the charms in the bead aisle)
- printable (down below)
- scissors
Assemble Bracelet Valentine
My printable was a tad too large to put the bracelet around without stretching out the bracelet- so I snipped out notches on both sides and nestled the bracelet in the groove! It stays in place pretty well but you can add a little piece of tape on the back to make sure it doesn’t shift! Doesn’t get easier than that!
Friendship Bracelet Valentine Printables
Some of these printables don’t have Valentine’s Day on them- which means you can use them to give friendship bracelet gifts all year round!
