I love finding really great free design resources online, so I wanted to pay it forward and share some free Photoshop background patterns that I created! These three patterns are designed, styled, and photographed by yours truly. And they’re a really pretty, fresh addition to so many design projects!

Ways to Use Photoshop Background Patterns In your Designs

I love these so much because they’re so versatile. The fruity patterns and splashy colors are eye-catching and useful for so many different applications. I mocked up a few ideas for using a Photoshop background just for fun — think lemonade stands, thank you cards, party invitations, and signage at events.

You can also use them for web design, blog imagery, or Pinterest backgrounds. Here’s one that I created.

Another great trick that I love to use when I’m designing with a photoshop background is to place a shape over the image, and turn the opacity down a bit on the shape. This way you can still see the pattern through the shape but it makes the text overlay pop so much more. Here’s an example with a rectangle and some text overlay:

How to Use Patterns as a Background in Canva or Photoshop

Using these is super simple! Once you download the file, you’ll have access to three backgrounds. Save them as files on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.

In Photoshop, Canva, or your favorite design software, simply open/insert the image file to use the pattern as a background. Then you can add layers over it (in Photoshop) or add text and shapes to it (in Canva). Once your design is complete, save it as needed. These files work perfectly for print or digital use.
