Helping to make school work a bit more fun, these cute felt animal DIY pencil toppers are a great back-to-school accessory!
Super Cute DIY Pencil Toppers for Back to School
Although we may not know what back to school will look like this September, one thing is certain, I’m always looking for ways to keep the kids motivated to do their school work. And maybe even more so since starting distance learning several months ago.
Working from home while staying on top of the kids learning has been a challenge to say the least. If these little animal pencil toppers will encourage them to pick up a pencil and write something (…anything) then I would call that a win!

How to Make Felt DIY Pencil Toppers:
Start by gathering the supplies needed to make the toppers and print off the animal pencil topper pattern on a 8.5×11 sheet of paper.
Cutting the Owl, Frog and Penguin Pattern:
Place the owl / frog / penguin pattern pieces over top of felt sheets in the color of your choosing.
Using fabric scissors, cut along the solid lines to cut out the pattern pieces.
Assembling the Owl Felt Pieces:
Preheat the hot glue gun and carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the owl belly, eyes and beak) to the largest felt owl piece pressing in place.
Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue. Press the prepared owl front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.
Assembling the Frog Felt Pieces:
Carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the frog belly and eyes) to the largest felt frog piece pressing in place.
Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue.
Press the prepared frog front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.
Assembling the Penguin Felt Pieces:
Carefully glue the smaller felt pieces (the penguin belly, eyes and beak) to the largest felt penguin piece pressing in place.
Apply a bead of glue along the outer edges of the smaller body piece leaving the bottom without glue.
Press the prepared penguin front piece to the back piece and press in place until the glue sets.

How cute! I plan on making some of these and donating them (dozens!) to our local thrift store which sells goods and uses the proceeds for charities. Thanks for providing a cute, desirable way to help others!
