Why Monthly Journal Sheets?

Around the start of each year, I see a lot of that energy and excitement about new possibilities. Which I love! But I also see a lot of “new year, new me” nonsense.

Opening up a new calendar doesn’t make you a new you. You are the same wonderful you that you have always been.

What a new year does, though, is to provide the idea of a fresh start. It’s a breath of fresh air and a chance to reevaluate our perspectives and intention.

It also provides a beautiful opportunity to dream. To look inward and decide what you really want, and what goals you hold in your heart.

So instead of just getting into that mindset on January 1 and then letting it fade a few weeks later, these Map My Month pages are like a monthly fresh start.

It’s an opportunity to sit down and clear your head every month, to really feel that openness of a refreshed vision.

Each month, on the 1st, I create and share a free downloadable guided worksheet. (You can download it at the end of the post.)

The monthly prompts will be the same, but we’ll focus on a different prompt each month and really dive deep on one of them. It’s a way to look at each question in a new way, and perhaps discover something you didn’t realize about yourself.

I’m so excited to see how our responses shift and change over the course of the year.

March’s Map My Month Focus: Serving Others

Last month we focused on your mantra. A phrase or saying that you created yourself, which was something that you could return to when you needed centering.

This month, our focus is turning outward.

As you work on your Map My Month worksheet this month, give a little extra thought to the portion that asks: One way, large or small, that I could serve others this month.

As you consider it, open your eyes to the people around you and what they may need that you could possibly provide. It doesn’t need to be big, and you don’t need to overthink it.

It could be something as small as committing to texting a friend once a week just to check in. Or something as big as scheduling a volunteer day with a local community group.

The point is to decenter yourself, and consider the way that you could support someone else.

When we decenter ourselves and focus on serving, it helps us to see the community around us more clearly (and our own relationship to it).

I also find that it helps me put my own worries, fears, or problems into perspective.

Here’s what to do next. Get yourself into a mindset that’s open, intentional, and ready for possibility. Go through the rest of the prompts on the worksheet, using as much time as you need.

If you plan on participating in Map My Month each month, I suggest you get a binder or a folder to keep all of your worksheets in one place. You can look back at your progress and reference past months’ Maps to see how your year is progressing.

You could even add it to your Intention Blueprints binder if you did those last year!

If you love this and want more, be sure to check out information on The Productivity Tool Kit! There’s a ton of work there in our online course that’s very similar to our Map My Month series.

We dig into purpose, values, and more — and how it ties into our productivity. It’s all about getting things done but in a heartfelt and simplified way.

I hope you love the new Map My Month! Let me know about your experience with it in the comments or on Instagram. xoxo
